The origin of the company name: Rasa Island, Treasure Trove of Phosphate Ore 
Everything began on an Uninhabited Island Surrounded by Coral Reefs in the Southern Sea.~

RASA INDUSTRIES, LTD.'s company name comes from “Rasa Island” in the southern sea, where our founder Noritaka Tsuneto and others discovered phosphate ore, a raw material of fertilizer, during the latter part of the Meiji era.

Rasa Island is situated to the southeast of the main island of Okinawa, and its official name is "Oki-Daito Island". It was thrown into the spotlight by the discovery of phosphate ore by our founder Noritaka Tsuneto, first head of the Fertilizer and Minerals Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce, and those around him. The island, as the country's sole production source of the phosphate ore used in fertilizer, became a vitally important site for the agriculture industry before WWII. The island is currently uninhabited, but continues to play an important role, demarcating Japanese territorial waters.

RASA INDUSTRIES, LTD. was founded in 1913 as a phosphate ore mining and processing  company. It later developed phosphorus-based fertilizers to promote agriculture, and today are a comprehensive manufacturer comprising the three divisions of Chemicals, Machinery, and Electronic Materials that supports urban development and lifestyles.
In Taiwan, RASA’s pipe jacking machine has been widely used in drilling and construction of water supply and sewerage system. RASA and its business have a strong tie with Taiwan.
